The University of Thessaly through the Department of Ichthyology and Aquatic Environment and the Centre for International Education, participates in the European project DiBluCa "The Digital Blue Carrier for a Post-Carbon Future - Curriculum Innovations in Aquaculture" funded under Erasmus+ [Strategic Partnerships for adult education] with code 2023-1-LT01-KA220-HED-000154247. The project has a total duration of 24 months and is a partnership with educational institutions and technology organizations from Lithuania, Croatia, Greece, Ukraine, and Turkey. The aim of the project is to produce an innovative educational curriculum to improve the quality of higher education on fisheries and aquaculture, ways to address climate change as well as overfishing of stocks. To address climate change, the program aims to train qualified technical staff by developing innovative curricula in higher education institutions on water sustainability, water footprint and fisheries both today and in the future. The program will therefore be a key instrument for building knowledge, skills and attitudes on climate change and sustainable development both within and outside the European Union. The program was launched with the online partners' meeting place in mid-December 2023, with representatives from all partners present. On 23-24 January 2024, the kick-off meeting was held in Kaunas, Lithuania, where, in addition to the presentation of all partners, all planned actions with their respective implementation schedules were identified. The scientific coordinator of the project on behalf of the University of Thessaly is the Assistant Professor of the Department of Ichthyology and Aquatic Environment, Dr. Klaoudatos Dimitris.
